Don’t know which alternate reality Ole Deb is orbiting, but those thugs do not represent me nor other middle class people I know.

The Rio Norte Line has a very pertninent post about leftist politicians in America calling upon President Obama to suspend the election and declare emergency powers. As to the answer for my thread title? I say it’s ‘both’. I believe leftists see the European fairy tale implode over there as well as in California now as for what it is: chickens and roosting. November’s election could portend a long run of electoral marginalization for them if they don’t do something now.
File under: YOU JUST CAN’T MAKE THIS UP. 100% IDIOTIC PART:
These factors have led to a situation where many newly-identified, inexperienced anarchists, as well as others who do not identify as such, are using the tools of anarchy, such as consensus, horizontality and direct action, with no foundation for their application, or mentors to help them learn. The Occupy movement must recognize how it is marginalizing one of its most valuable resources and reverse this talent drain if it is to survive as a radical movement opposed to the state and capitalism, and in support of community self-determination and liberation.

Progressives simply love those simplistic guilt-by-association characterizations…. that is until it bites them in the tuckus. For example, Progressive Magazine has a piece about Republicans highlighting the fact that poor widdle Tammy Baldwin is associating with *gasp* some of her supporters! The horror!
Let’s see how their guilt-by-association ‘reasoning’ unravels. Second paragraph:
The NRSC is the official committee of the Republican Party devoted to electing Republicans to the U.S. Senate. Its biggest funders are Goldman Sachs, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Home Depot, Exxon Mobil, and Perry Homes.
Really? They have large corporate donors? That’s a bad thing? Are they guilty of something? Let’s review their political donation performance to see how the Democrats handled their offers to help:
Goldman Sachs? One of President Obama’s top donors.
Perry Homes? They donate almost 10% of their funds to Democrats. The Democrats certainly don’t mind accepting the dollars if Perry Homes is not a good donor. What is their crime? Building homes for humans?
Blue Cross/Blue Shield? They donate 44% of their political funds to Democrats. What’s the problem, Progressive Magazine?
Exxon/Mobil? 7% of their political funds go to Democrats. Again, if Exxon/Mobil’s money is so evil… why are the Democrats taking any of it, Progressive Magazine?
Home Depot? 25% to Democrats. Nope, their money is not too vile to accept.
Apparently, their money is good enough for Democrats -and by extension- Tammy Baldwin and Progressive Magazine. What’s the real problem?
Simplistic talking points grounded in the shifting sands of double standards. To wit:
No, Tammy Baldwin yelling ‘This is what Democracy looks like!’ to a group that didn’t always behave properly blew up in her face. She -and Progressive Magazine- are busy wiping the gun powder off of their faces while nursing sore rumps courtesy of Scott Walker.
…and it’s not just in the Republican ad campaign that shows Baldwin’s association with the sleazy Occupier Den… Mother Jones obliges to make the association long before the recall election. In fact, Tammy is a top ten Occupy candidate.
Tammy Baldwin, this is what hypocrisy looks like.
Oh, I love a happy ending in a trainwreck story! Juicy ironic part:
Start with the North Carolina Democratic Party. At the state party convention last week, Obama for America was AWOL. The glaring absence of high-level national Obama surrogates was noted “as odd,” according to the
Charlotte Raleigh News and Observer. There’s good reason to steer clear. The party is embroiled in a sordid sex scandal that won’t go away.
Other Democrats are boycotting North Carolina to avoid an entirely different taint: the scandal-plagued president himself. By TheDaily.com’s count, at least seven Democratic officials will skip Obama-palooza: New York Democratic Reps. Bill Owens and Kathy Hochul; Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Mark Critz; three endangered Democratic politicians from West Virginia, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Sen. Joe Manchin, and Rep. Nick Rahall; and Utah Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson.
* snip* >chuckle<
Thousands of anarchists, socialists and professional agitators also plan on protesting in Charlotte. After giving Mr. Hollow Hope and Change a first-term pass, self-declared progressives can’t ignore Team Obama’s in-your-face decision to deliver his presidential nomination acceptance speech at bailed-out Bank of America Stadium.
Hoo boy. That’s so good, I think I need a cigarette. …. and I don’t smoke.
thatinnocuousgirl posts some very valid points along with others courtesy of Ace about what to do about Brett Kimberlin going forward. She’s right…. we need to do more than just publicize it as I posited last week. Publicity is good, don’t get me wrong…. it’s a good start but it’s only a down payment on the war against leftist tyranny. Check out her post and add to the Army of Davids in taking down this sick elephant in the room.
BTW, Brett… never heard back from you. Whatsamatter? Cat got your mouse?
Been doing a little reading about your past and it seems you’re a tad bit sensitive about it. After reading about the facts that are established in a conviction, I’d be a little sensitive about others learning about my less-than-stellar behavior. I suspect, however, that’s where our similarities end as I’d be humiliated by a lack of decency and compassion as conveyed in those lousy acts.
I think your unease is not embedded in a concern for decency as you haven’t shown much decency towards those with whom you disagree. Let’s talk about that decency aspect, Brett.
Not sure about your upbringing-and after reading about your past– it’s easy to surmise that it wasn’t the same as mine. You see, Brett, for many of us who comprehend the bedrock of civil society, we carry a healthy dose of decency …which is part and parcel of respect for other. Our founding fathers understood that not every soul in our country would understand the golden rule…… so they graciously bestowed upon us a republic replete with the rule of law.
Laws that apply to everybody -even you Brett – upholding the vital freedom of speech rights. Funny how you seem to enjoy those freedom of speech rights right up to your point of view… and then your respect for others’ rights dries up. Well, Brett, that’s not the only thing that has dried up. Our patience with societal miscreants such as yourself has dried up, as well.
Your reservoir of decency on my end has evaporated, too, and I so I bid you a warm ‘Piss off, jackass’.
With absolutely no regard,
